The Elks National Home

"Grow old along with me; the best is yet to
be."
Elks National Home in Bedford, Virginia, has
been called the best-kept secret in Elkdom. Not any more. We've
never been very good about keeping secrets.
Where is it?
It's nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge
Mountains in southwestern Virginia, on 180 acres of rolling
farmland. Bedford is located on U.S. Route 460, midway between
Roanoke and Lynchburg. From Interstate 81, take exit 150A. Greyhound
Bus lines travel to the city. The nearest airports are in Roanoke
and Lynchburg.
The facility
The administration building comprises the lobby,
dining room, library, recreation room, infirmary and offices. The
rooms and apartments are in nine separate buildings, which are
connected by enclosed, heated and air-conditioned porches and
walkways. The Home now has accommodations for Elk couples, as well
as single men and women Elk members.
